HISTORY

In 1994 Dan Allbäck and Lennart Bäckman started working as consultants in Zambia. Early on they saw the devastation that HIV/AIDS caused the population and especially the many children who were orphaned at very young ages. In 1995 they sponsored football activities through the Red Cross Street Kids program in Lusaka. Through a mutual acquaintance, they met Nenani Banda early one morning at a training ground in Lusaka. Nenani had already taken the first steps to start a football club. Those small steps were to become the start of Chiparamba Football Academy.

Both Dan and Lennart had experience of youth sports in Sweden from their own children and also as coaches in their clubs. That experience would come well in handy when Chiparamba got started. Knowing the importance of having good leaders, they contacted Örgryte IS for help. The education of coaches for Chiparamba has been up and running in Sweden and Zambia since year 2000.
