DONATIONS AT WORK

One consequence caused by the poverty in Zambia – one of the worlds 15 poorest countries, where 75% of the population lives below the poverty level of $1/day – is a highly spread corruption and continuous chase for money throughout every level of society. This means that we have to be very careful to make sure that all donations we receive end up where they're supposed to and not in somebody else's pocket.

Scepticism towards various charity organizations from people in our surroundings often arises as a result of not knowing where donations end up. People often hesitate to give money because they feel that there's not enough insight as to where the money goes and that too much goes to waste due to administrative costs. For example, one of the comments we hear sometimes is “Who wants to send money to a black hole in Africa?”.

The Chiparamba Foundation's fundamental idea is to give money, tied to specific projects, that we can control ourselves. Besides that we will carefully monitor the flow of money from start to finish by demanding results and reports before any payments will take place.
